P4 - Revit

posted Dec 1, 2009 7:40 AM by Douglas Seidler   [ updated Dec 4, 2009 6:25 AM ]

Using Revit as a modeling and documentation tool, draw the shell for a project you are currently working on (or have already competed) in another design studio. In addition to documenting existing conditions, your project should demonstrate your ability to effectively communicate interior space.
  • Floor Plan – including overall dimensions, room labels, and wall poché
  • Reflected Ceiling Plan – including ceiling condition, light fixtures, and wall poché
  • Interior Elevations or Section Elevation
  • Exterior Elevation (at entrance to shell)
  • Three (3) Interior Perspectives

Drawings should demonstrate a strong understanding of the following Revit concepts:
  • Drawing and printing to scale
  • Using text
  • Using wall poché
  • Dimensioning Drawings
  • Creating custom Title Blocks / Title Borders

P3: Prominent Design

posted Oct 15, 2009 8:07 PM by Douglas Seidler   [ updated Nov 3, 2009 7:06 AM ]

Students will select and individually draft a floor plan & vertical section of a pre-selected building designed by a prominent designer.
  • Floor Plan with Furniture (1 sheet ¼”=1’-0” or ½”=1’-0”)
  • Section or Interior Elevations (1 sheet, same scale as Floor Plan)

Drawings should demonstrate a strong understanding of the following AutoCAD concepts:
  • Drawing with Line weight
  • Drawing and Printing to Scale
  • Using Text in AutoCAD
  • Using Hatches and Dashed Lines in AutoCAD
  • Using Blocks in AutoCAD (Furniture and drawing symbols where applicable)
  • Dimensioning Drawings
  • Creating and Using Title Blocks / Title Borders

P2: Draw Print Fold

posted Sep 25, 2009 6:31 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Sep 25, 2009 6:32 AM ]

Students will draw the six surfaces of our classroom to scale in AutoCAD using proper line weight and layer conventions. The floor plan, four elevations, and reflected ceiling plan will contain the amount of information required of a Schematic Design phase drawing. The six drawings will be assembled in AutoCAD and plotted so they can be folded to create an interior paper model of our classroom.
